Saira Hamilton, BBC’s MasterChef finalist from 2013, will be the guest chef at Malton Monthly Food Market on Saturday 11th October.
Saira, who attended Malton Food Lovers Festival last year, reached the final four in the popular cookery series on the strength of her delicious Bengali-inspired food.
The October Monthly Food Market coincides with the annual Ryedale Book Festival, which takes place on Saturday 11th and Sunday 12th October at various venues in Yorkshire’s Food Capital.
Saira said: “I am delighted to be in Malton again! I am regular visitor to the town along with my husband Jim, our two children and our excitable Airedale Terrier. We always eat well and receive a warm welcome.”
Saira has cooked for as long as she can remember, inspired by her mother Nadira. Since appearing on MasterChef, she has launched her own company, Small Aubergine, and is currently working on her first cook book.
“I am looking forward to visiting the numerous stalls at Malton Monthly Food Market, as well as enjoying the book festival,” said Saira.
Saira will present her cookery demos at the cookery theatre inside the Milton Rooms, while over 35 food and drink stalls will be selling their tasty wares from 9am to 3pm.
There will be the usual attractions such as the Malton White Star Band, the popular café staffed entirely by volunteers, free entry and free parking.
Malton Monthly Food Market’s remaining dates for 2014 are: Saturday 11th October; Saturday 8th November and Saturday 13th December.
